Brock Trotter's Hockey Journey
Brock Trotter started his hockey career playing college hockey at the University of Denver. This was in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA).
Joining the Pros
After college, Brock joined the Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League (AHL). The AHL is often where players develop their skills before moving to the NHL. On February 6, 2010, he finally made his big debut in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens. This was a dream come true for him! He played two games with the Canadiens. After that, he went back to the Hamilton Bulldogs. He had a fantastic season there, scoring 36 goals and getting 77 points.
Playing Overseas
In July 2010, Brock decided to try playing hockey in Europe. He signed a two-year contract with Dinamo Riga, a team in Latvia that plays in the KHL (Kontinental Hockey League). The KHL is a major league with teams from many different countries.
A year later, in July 2011, Brock signed a contract to return to the Montreal Canadiens. However, his time back in Montreal was short. In October 2011, he was traded to the Phoenix Coyotes. He then played for their AHL team, the Portland Pirates. Later that season, he moved to another AHL team, the St. John's IceCaps.
Returning to the Ice
Brock had to take two seasons off from playing because of an injury. But he didn't give up! In June 2014, he made a comeback to professional hockey. He signed a short trial contract with KHL Medveščak Zagreb, a Croatian team in the KHL.
After that, Brock played for several teams in different countries:
- In Sweden, with IF Björklöven.
- In Finland, with SaiPa and Oulun Kärpät.
- In Germany, with ERC Ingolstadt.
In October 2017, he returned to North America to play for the Chicago Wolves in the AHL. He played a few games there before going back to Europe. He joined Stavanger Oilers in Norway, but he didn't play any games for them. He then returned to IF Björklöven in Sweden.
Later Career Teams
In the 2018–19 season, Brock played for Dornbirner EC in the Austrian Hockey League. He scored an impressive 55 points in 42 games! The next season, he played in Slovak Extraliga with HKM Zvolen.
Brock has also played for teams in other countries:
- In France, with Dragons de Rouen.
- In Romania, with ASC Corona Brasov.
- Back in Germany, with Starbulls Rosenheim.
In July 2022, it was announced that Brock would join Coventry Blaze in the UK. However, in August 2022, it was shared that he would no longer be joining that team.
