What is the History of Brush Prairie?

Brush Prairie got its name a long time ago. A post office opened there in 1871.

The community was named by a woman called Elmarine Jane Bowman. She named it after a "brushy prairie and swamp" that was on her father's land.

Brush Prairie is located in the southwestern part of Clark County. It is surrounded by several other communities. To the north, you'll find Meadow Glade and Battle Ground.

To the east is Hockinson. South of Brush Prairie are Orchards and Five Corners. To the west, you will find Barberton.

A main road, Washington State Route 503, goes through Brush Prairie. This road leads north about 4 miles (6.4 km) to Battle Ground. It also goes south about 5 miles (8 km) to Vancouver.
