Bullfinch is a small town located in the eastern part of the Wheatbelt region in Western Australia. It was officially made a town in 1910. Bullfinch is best known for its history in Gold mining.

Discovering Bullfinch: A Gold Rush Town

Gold was first found in the Bullfinch area in December 1909. A prospector named Charley Jones made this exciting discovery. Soon after, the first gold mining areas, called leases, were claimed. These were known as Bullfinch No 1, 2, and 3.

The original Bullfinch mine closed in 1921. However, after World War II, there was a new boom in mining. This led to other mines opening up in the area.

Bullfinch and the Railway Network

From 1911, Bullfinch was an important stop on the Wyalkatchem_to_Southern_Cross_railway_line. This railway line was a key part of the wheatbelt's transport system for many years.

In 1932, the Wheat Pool of Western Australia made an important announcement. They decided that Bullfinch would get two special buildings called grain elevators. These elevators, each with its own engine, were built at the railway siding. They helped store and move grain, which was very important for farmers in the region.
