Bunker Hill Village is a small city in Harris County, Texas, in the United States. It's part of the larger Houston area. In 2020, about 3,822 people lived there.
Bunker Hill Village is known as one of the "Memorial Villages." These are fancy neighborhoods in west Houston. In 2010, Bunker Hill Village was ranked as the sixth wealthiest place in Texas. It was also named one of Forbes' top places for rich people to retire.
Even though it's close to Houston, Bunker Hill Village is its own city. It has its own government. But for mail, people use "Houston" as the city name for all addresses in Bunker Hill Village.

History of Bunker Hill Village
Before Bunker Hill Village became a city, German farmers lived in the area. They built sawmills to cut down trees. A map from 1936 shows that there were some homes near one of these sawmills.
Becoming a City
In the mid-1950s, people tried to create a new city in the Spring Branch area, but it didn't work out. Then, in December 1954, Bunker Hill Village officially became a city. It set up its own mayor-council government. Because it became a city in 1954, Houston could not take over its land. Houston did take over other nearby areas that were not yet cities.
Growth and Development
In 1962, about 2,216 people lived in Bunker Hill Village. By 1966, the city had grown and become quite wealthy. It had two public schools and two churches. By 1981, the population had increased to 4,442 people.
In 2008, Forbes.com named Bunker Hill Village as one of the "Top Suburbs to Live Well" in the Houston area. It was chosen along with Sugar Land and Hunters Creek Village.
A famous house, the William L. Thaxton Jr. House, is located in Bunker Hill Village. It was designed by the world-famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

Public Schools
- For very young children, all residents can go to Wildcat Way School in Houston for preschool.
- The city has two elementary schools within its borders: Bunker Hill Elementary School and Frostwood Elementary School. A small part of the city also goes to Memorial Drive Elementary School in Piney Point Village.
- For middle school, students either attend Memorial Middle School in Houston or Spring Branch Middle School in Hedwig Village.
- All high school students from Bunker Hill Village go to Memorial High School, which is located in Hedwig Village.
Colleges
For college, students can attend the Houston Community College System. The Northwest College has a campus nearby in Houston.
Public Libraries
The Harris County Public Library system has a branch close by. The Spring Branch Memorial Branch is located in Hedwig Village. It opened in 1975 and is a great place to find books and resources.
