Adam Clayton Powell, Sr.
Adam Clayton Powell, Sr. (1865-1953) was a very important religious leader. His family moved to Cabin Creek before 1880, and he lived here for several years. He got married near Cabin Creek in 1889 before he went to study at Wayland Seminary in Washington, D.C. Later, he became the pastor of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, New York. Under his leadership, this church grew to become the largest Protestant church in the entire nation.
Hercules Renda
Hercules Renda (1917-2005) was a talented athlete. He played football at the University of Michigan. After his playing career, he became a successful coach.
Jerry West
