Cairn Toul (from the Gaelic Càrn an t-Sabhail, meaning 'Hill of the barn') is a very tall mountain in Scotland. It is the fourth highest mountain in the entire United Kingdom. This makes it a truly impressive peak!
Cairn Toul stands at 1,291 metres (about 4,236 feet) high. It is part of the amazing Cairngorms mountain range. This mountain is the second highest point in the western part of the Cairngorms. It is connected to another big mountain, Braeriach, by a lower pass. This pass is about 1,125 metres above sea level. Cairn Toul looks down over the western side of the famous Lairig Ghru mountain pass.

Popular Climbing Routes
One way to climb Cairn Toul is from the south. You can combine this climb with a visit to The Devil's Point. This peak is about 2.5 kilometres to the south-southeast.
Another way to climb is from the north. This route includes climbing Braeriach and Sgòr an Lochain Uaine. Both of these routes are quite long. They can be around 15 kilometres one way. You can start from places like Coire Cas or Linn of Dee.
You can also climb Cairn Toul from the west. This route starts from Achlean in Glen Feshie. This path is a bit shorter, about 27 kilometres for the whole trip. However, you will need to cross a large, uneven area. This area can be quite boggy in places.
