Caledonia is a city in Minnesota, United States. It is the main city, or county seat, of Houston County. Caledonia is also part of the larger La Crosse, Wisconsin area. In 2020, about 2,847 people lived there.

History of Caledonia
Caledonia was first planned out in 1854 and 1855. The city got its name from its founder, Colonel Samuel McPhail. He chose "Caledonia" because it was an old Roman word for Scotland. A post office has been open in Caledonia since 1855. The city officially became a town in 1870 and then again in 1889.
Geography and Location
Caledonia covers about 2.84 square miles (7.32 square kilometers) of land. It is located about 17 miles southwest of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Two important roads, Minnesota Highway 44 and Minnesota Highway 76, pass through the community.
