Obama Drive: A Special Street
On May 13, 2010, the village leaders decided to rename 127th Street to Obama Drive. This was done to honor Barack Obama, who was the 44th President of the United States. Later that year, on August 21, State Senator Emil Jones III read a special message from the Illinois Senate. This new road became the first street named after President Obama in his home state of Illinois. It was also the first Obama Drive in the entire country.
