Camino is located high up in the mountains. It sits about 3,133 feet (955 meters) above sea level. Because it's so high, it often snows several times each year.
This area is famous for its apple picking in the fall. Many people visit to pick fresh apples. Because of this, Camino is sometimes confused with a nearby area called Apple Hill. Camino also has many Christmas tree farms. An event called the Apple Hill Run happens there every year.
Camino is found along U.S. Route 50. It is about halfway between the cities of Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe. The first post office in Camino opened in 1904. The area uses the ZIP code 95709 and the area code 530.
