History of Camp Dennison
This community was first settled in 1796 by people who came from Germany. It is named after William Dennison, who was an important person in Ohio. He served as the 24th Governor of Ohio. He was also the U.S. Postmaster General under President Abraham Lincoln.
Camp Dennison and the Civil War
During the American Civil War (1861-1865), Camp Dennison was a very important place. It was used as a military camp where soldiers joined the United States Army. They also received their training here before going off to fight.
