Cando (pronounced KAN-doo) is a small city in Towner County, North Dakota, in the United States. It is the main town and administrative center for Towner County, known as the county seat. The city was founded in 1884. In 2020, about 1,117 people lived there.

History of Cando
Cando was started in 1884. It became the main town for the new Towner County. The city got its name from the "can do" attitude of the early settlers. In 1888, the Great Northern Railway built its tracks to Cando. This helped the town grow.
West of Cando, a group of settlers from Indiana started a community in 1894. They called it Dunkers Colony. Later, this settlement changed its name to Zion. Today, only a cemetery remains from this early community.
