Carlos Hyde (born September 20, 1990) is an American former professional football player. He played as a running back in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes. The San Francisco 49ers picked him in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft.

Early Life and High School Football
Carlos Hyde grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. He went to Princeton High School for his freshman year. Then, he moved to Naples, Florida, and attended Naples High School.
As a senior, he ran for 1,653 yards and scored 16 touchdowns for his school's football team. He was named Player of the Year by local newspapers. He helped his team win a state championship in 2007. Carlos also played basketball and ran track. He even mentored younger kids in elementary school.
Experts like Rivals.com saw him as a top player. They rated him as the second-best fullback in the country. He chose to play for Ohio State University. He had offers from other big schools like Florida and Miami.
College Football Career
Carlos Hyde started at Ohio State in January 2010. For his first two years, he was mostly a backup running back. In his junior year, he really shined. He gained 970 yards and scored 16 rushing touchdowns. He did this in less than 10 games, even after missing two due to an ankle injury. He was named second-team All-Big Ten Conference that year.
Before his senior season, Carlos faced some challenges. He missed the first three games. But he came back strong, finishing the season with 1,282 yards and 14 touchdowns. This was all in his last eight games. On October 5, he ran for 168 yards and three touchdowns against Northwestern.
He had a season-high of 246 yards and four touchdowns against Illinois on November 16. The next week, he ran for 226 yards and a touchdown against Michigan. He was chosen for the first-team All-Big Ten. He was also named a third-team All-American by the Associated Press.

San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers picked Carlos Hyde in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft. He was the third running back chosen that year.
2014 Season with the 49ers
Carlos Hyde joined a team with many good running backs. Injuries to other players helped him move up the depth chart. He became the backup running back behind Frank Gore. In his first game against the Dallas Cowboys, Hyde ran for 50 yards and scored a touchdown. He finished his rookie season with 333 yards and four touchdowns.
2015 Season with the 49ers
After Frank Gore left, Hyde became the main running back for the 49ers. In the first game of the season, he had his best game yet. He ran for 168 yards and two touchdowns against the Minnesota Vikings. He even made an amazing spin move for one touchdown. Later in the season, he fractured his foot and needed surgery. He finished the season with 470 yards and three touchdowns.
2016 Season with the 49ers
Hyde was a key player for the 49ers in 2016. The team's new coach, Chip Kelly, liked to run the ball a lot. In the first game, Hyde ran for 88 yards and two touchdowns against the Los Angeles Rams. In Week 3, he had a great game against the Seattle Seahawks, rushing for 103 yards and two touchdowns. He continued to play well, even with a shoulder injury. 2017 Season with the 49ers

He ran for 124 yards, including a 61-yard run, which was the longest of his career. He was the first running back since 2010 to rush for over 100 yards in back-to-back road games in Seattle.

Cleveland Browns
On March 15, 2018, Carlos Hyde signed a three-year contract with the Cleveland Browns. In his first game with the Browns, he ran for 62 yards and a touchdown against the Steelers. This helped the Browns end their 17-game losing streak. On his 28th birthday, he played against the Jets. He ran for 97 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning score. The Browns won 21–17, their first win in 19 games. After the game, he went back to the hospital where his son was born.
Jacksonville Jaguars (First Time)
On October 19, 2018, the Browns traded Hyde to the Jacksonville Jaguars. He shared playing time with other running backs like Leonard Fournette. He finished the 2018 season with 571 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns overall. The Jaguars released him on March 8, 2019.
Kansas City Chiefs
On March 9, 2019, Hyde signed a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Houston Texans
On August 31, 2019, Hyde was traded to the Houston Texans. In Week 1, he ran for 83 yards against the Saints. In Week 6, he had 116 yards and a touchdown against his former team, the Chiefs.
