Casey J. Printers (born May 16, 1981) is a former professional American football and Canadian football player. He played as a quarterback, which is the player who leads the team's offense. Casey spent most of his career with the BC Lions in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He also played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Kansas City Chiefs, and Allen Wranglers.

Early Life

Casey Printers was born in DeSoto, Texas. He started playing football when he was very young. A special moment was when his team, the Oak Cliff Jets, went to the Pop Warner National Championship. This big event happened in San Francisco, California, when Casey was twelve years old.

College Career

Casey played college football at Texas Christian University (TCU) from 1999 to 2001. He helped the TCU Horned Frogs win two championships in a row in 1999 and 2000. They also played in three bowl games, which are special end-of-season games. Casey was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the 1999 Mobile Alabama Bowl. He was also recognized as a top freshman player that year.

In 2002, Casey transferred to Florida A&M University for his final college year. He led the Rattlers to a 7-5 record. During his college career, Casey threw for 4,621 yards and 37 touchdowns. These numbers rank him fourth in TCU history for passing yards and touchdowns.

Professional Career

BC Lions (First Time)

After college, Casey Printers joined the BC Lions in the Canadian Football League (CFL) in 2003. He started as a third-string quarterback, meaning he was behind two other players. In the 2004 CFL season, Casey became the starting quarterback after the main player got injured. He had an amazing season, throwing for over 5,000 yards and 35 touchdowns. He also ran for 469 yards and 9 touchdowns.

Because of his great performance, Casey was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2004 season. He was known for being a very exciting player who could make big plays by both throwing and running the ball. He helped the Lions win eight games in a row and finish first in their division.

In the 2004 playoffs, Casey got a shoulder injury. The Lions made it to the Grey Cup game, which is the CFL championship. However, they lost the game.

In 2005, Casey had some injuries and shared playing time with another quarterback. He decided to leave the Lions in 2006 to try playing in the NFL.

Kansas City Chiefs

Casey signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2006. He hoped to earn a backup quarterback spot. He played in some preseason games but was later moved to the Chiefs' practice squad. This is a group of players who practice with the team but are not on the main roster. He was briefly on the main roster but was released by the Chiefs in September 2007.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats

After leaving the Chiefs, Casey signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL on September 6, 2007. He was reportedly the highest-paid player in the league at the time. However, he struggled during his time with the Tiger-Cats and was released by the team in February 2009.

Return to BC

Casey Printers returned to the BC Lions in September 2009. He started as a practice squad player again. He eventually became the starting quarterback for some games. In 2010, he played in 14 games for the Lions. He was released from the team later that year.

Allen Wranglers

On February 3, 2012, Casey signed with the Allen Wranglers. This team plays in the Indoor Football League, which is a different type of football played indoors. He made his debut with the Wranglers in February 2012.

Records

Casey Printers once held a CFL record for the highest completion percentage in a single game. This means he completed a very high number of his passes. On August 13, 2004, he completed 20 out of 22 passes (90.9%) for 303 yards. He also threw four touchdowns in that game. This record has since been broken.

As the Lions' starting quarterback in 2004, Casey also helped his teammate, Geroy Simon, have a record-breaking season. Simon caught 14 touchdowns and had 1750 receiving yards, which was a new club record for the Lions.

Personal
