Cecelia Ahern (born on September 30, 1981) is a famous Irish writer. She is well-known for her books like PS, I Love You, Where Rainbows End, and If You Could See Me Now.

Cecelia was born in Dublin, Ireland. Her books are now sold in almost fifty countries. She has sold over 25 million copies of her novels around the world! Two of her books have even been made into big movies. Also, her collection of short stories called Roar was turned into a TV series for Apple TV+.

Cecelia and her books have won many awards. One of these is the Irish Book Award for Popular Fiction for her book The Year I Met You. She has written many novels and short stories for different collections. Cecelia also helped create and produce the TV comedy show Samantha Who?, which starred Christina Applegate.

About Cecelia's Life

Cecelia Ahern is the daughter of Bertie Ahern. He used to be the Taoiseach, which is like the prime minister of Ireland. Her mother is Miriam Ahern. Cecelia's older sister, Georgina Ahern, is married to Nicky Byrne. He is a singer from the Irish pop group Westlife.

In the year 2000, Cecelia was part of an Irish pop group called Shimma. They came in third place in the Irish competition for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Before she became a writer and producer, Cecelia studied journalism and media at Griffith College Dublin. She left a higher degree course to focus on her writing career.

Cecelia married David Keoghan in 2010. They have three children together. Their first daughter was born in December 2009. Their son was born in July 2012, and another daughter in October 2019. As of 2015, they live in Malahide, which is in North County Dublin.

In 2002, when Cecelia was 21 years old, she wrote her first novel. It was called PS, I Love You. This book was published in 2004. It quickly became a number one bestseller in Ireland, the United Kingdom, the U.S., Germany, and the Netherlands. It has been sold in over forty countries.

The book PS, I Love You was made into a movie. It was directed by Richard LaGravenese and starred Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler. The movie came out in the United States on December 21, 2007.

Her second book was Where Rainbows End. In the U.S., it was called Love, Rosie. This book also became a number one bestseller in Ireland and the UK. It won the Corine Literature Prize in Germany in 2005. This book was also made into a movie called Love, Rosie. The film was released in 2014. It was directed by Christian Ditter and starred Lily Collins and Sam Claflin.

Cecelia has also written short stories for books that help charities. Some of these include Irish Girls are Back in Town and Ladies' Night.

Cecelia was also a co-creator and producer for the TV comedy show Samantha Who?. This show was on the ABC channel. It starred Christina Applegate, Jean Smart, and Melissa McCarthy.

Her book The Gift was published just before Christmas in 2008 in the UK. Her next book, The Book of Tomorrow, came out on October 1, 2009. In 2016, Cecelia released Flawed. This was her first book written for young adults. She also released Lyrebird that same year.

Awards and Achievements

Cecelia was nominated for the Best Newcomer award in 2004/2005. This was at the British Book Awards for her first novel, PS, I Love You.

In 2005, she won the Irish Post Award for Literature. She also won a Corine Literature Prize for her second book, Where Rainbows End. German readers voted for this award. In 2006, PS I Love You was considered for the IMPAC award.

Cosmopolitan US magazine gave her a Fun Fearless Fiction Award in 2007 for If You Could See Me Now. Irish Tatler magazine named her Writer of the Year in 2009. Cecelia's fifth novel, Thanks for the Memories, was nominated for Most Popular Book at the British Book Awards in 2008. In 2008, Cecelia was voted Author of the Year at the UK Glamour Women of the Year Awards.
