Her Adventurous Life
Cecilie Skog first studied and worked as a nurse. But her love for adventure soon took over. After climbing Mount Everest in 2004, she decided to become a full-time adventurer. She now works as a guide and gives talks about her incredible journeys.
In August 2008, Cecilie climbed K2, one of the world's most challenging mountains. Sadly, during the descent, her husband, Rolf Bae, who was climbing with her, passed away. Several other climbers also lost their lives during this difficult time.
In January 2010, Cecilie made history. She completed the first journey across Antarctica without any outside help. This means she carried all her own supplies and didn't get any new ones along the way. With her partner, Ryan Waters, she skied over 1800 kilometers. This incredible trip took them 70 days, from November 2009 to January 2010.
