About Celines Toribio
Celines Toribio was born in Santo Domingo, the capital city of the Dominican Republic. She studied at Lehman College and earned a degree in Mass Communications and Theater in 1997. Later, in 2006, she moved to Los Angeles to become an actress. She has even studied with famous acting coach Arthur Mendoza.
Her Career in TV and Film
Becoming a TV Host
Celines started her TV journey in 1995. She hosted a fun show called Sabado Al Mediodia (Saturday at Midday). She also worked as an entertainment reporter for WXTV. There, she hosted Galeria (Gallery), a daily show about celebrity news. She also had a weekly show called Mi Gente (My People), where she interviewed famous Latino people.
Celines often appeared at big events like the Puerto Rican Day Parade and the Dominican Day Parade. In 1997, she became known across the country on Univision. This is one of the biggest Spanish-language TV networks. She hosted their coverage of Miami's Calle Ocho street festival.
Later, she became a reporter for Fuera De Serie (Something Outrageous). She also reported for El Gordo y La Flaca (Fat and Skinny), a popular daily entertainment show. Celines has interviewed many famous Latino stars. These include Ricky Martin, Luis Miguel, Celia Cruz, and Michelle Rodriguez.
From 2002 to 2006, Celines hosted a Major League Baseball show on ESPN Deportes called Sabor a Beisbol. She was the only woman to ever host a Major League Baseball-produced TV show! She also co-hosted a morning radio show in New York. In 2008, she hosted FIESTA 2008, a big Latino concert in Central Park, New York. In 2020, she was a guest host on Telemundo's morning show " Un Nuevo Día. "
Acting Roles
Celines has also appeared in several movies. She was in El hijo del carnicero (The Butcher’s Son) with Manny Pérez. In 2008, she worked with Vin Diesel in a short film that was part of Fast & Furious.
She also starred alongside Michelle Rodriguez in the historical film Trópico de Sangre. This movie was shown at the New York International Latino Film Festival in 2010. In the film, Celines played the role of Dedé Mirabal.
