Center Junction is a small community in Jones County, Iowa, United States. It is now a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area identified for collecting population data, but it doesn't have its own city government. In 2010, when it was still an official city, its population was 111 people. Center Junction is part of the larger Cedar Rapids area.
Center Junction used to be an official city. However, in 2015, the city council decided to give up its city status. They voted to sell off city property and let the county manage the area. The main reason for this change was that the town was having financial problems.

History of Center Junction
Center Junction was established in 1871. The people who started the town hoped it would become an important railroad junction. They chose the name "Center Junction" because they wanted it to be a meeting point for trains near the middle of Jones County.
For many years, two major railroads met there. These were the Chicago & Northwestern Railway and the Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Paul & Pacific Railway. However, the Chicago & NorthWestern stopped its train service on that line in 1951.
