The Chabbie River is a river in Canada. It flows through two different areas. These are the Cochrane District in Ontario and the Eeyou Istchee Baie-James area in Quebec.
This river is a branch of the Turgeon River. The Turgeon River then flows into the Harricana River.
The main activity in this area is forestry. This means people work with forests and wood. Tourism, like visiting for fun, is also important.
The river usually freezes in early November. It stays frozen until mid-May. It is generally safe to walk on the ice from mid-November to the end of April.
About the Chabbie River
The Chabbie River is about 52.7 km (32.7 mi) long. It starts from a small forest stream. This stream is in a marshy area in the eastern part of the Cochrane District in Ontario. The starting point is about 309 metres (1,014 ft) above sea level.
Where the River Flows
The Chabbie River flows in a few main directions:
- It first flows southeast, then southwest.
- It passes through a lake called "North Chabbie Lake".
- It then flows southeast through another small lake.
- The river continues southeast into Noseworthy Township.
- It then flows southeast into Bradette Township.
- Finally, it flows eastward into Quebec.
The Chabbie River joins the Turgeon River on its west side. This meeting point is very close to the border between Quebec and Ontario.
