About Charlotte Dauphin
Early Life and Education
Charlotte Dauphin was born in Paris, France in 1987. When she was younger, she trained to be a ballet dancer. However, an injury stopped her dance career. After that, she decided to focus on her studies.
She went to several well-known universities. She studied at EDHEC, the University of London (specifically the Courtauld Institute of Art), and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. Later, she learned about filmmaking at the University of Southern California. Her grandfather was Jacques Dauphin, who was important in European advertising.
Charlotte's Creative Career
Charlotte Dauphin is the founder and artistic director of Dauphin Studio. This is where she creates her art. Her work includes performances, visual art, films, and designs. Her art has been shown at film festivals around the world. It has also been displayed in famous places like the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and the Serpentine Galleries in London. Some of her pieces are even part of the permanent collection at the MAD Museum in Paris.
In January 2020, she released her first full-length movie, L'Autre (which means The Other). The actress in the film, Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey, won a Best Actress Award at the Taormina Film Fest for her role. Charlotte also acted alongside the famous French ballet dancer Marie-Agnès Gillot in her short experimental films Barre and Architect.
In 2023, Charlotte joined the international cast of Dear Paris. This film is a tribute to the city of Paris by director Marjane Satrapi. She also reunited with Marie-Agnès Gillot to perform a special show called The Future of Statues at the Musée de l’Orangerie.
Producing Films
As a film producer, Charlotte helps create independent movies and supports unique filmmakers. One of the first films she worked on was Dark Inclusion by Arthur Harari. This movie won the Louis Delluc Prize for Best Film. It also received several awards at the César Awards.
Charlotte has also produced films for director Mia Hansen-Løve. One of these was Bergman Island, which was chosen to be shown at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. She also works with other filmmakers like Marjane Satrapi and Scarlett Johansson for her first movie as a director, Eleanor the Great.
Designing Unique Creations
Charlotte Dauphin is also known around the world for her work as a designer. Her designs are often described as simple and artistic. They are inspired by dance, technology, architecture, and sculpture. Many famous people have worn or used her creations. Charlotte Dauphin is married to Charles de La Rochefoucauld. They got married in a private ceremony at The Invalides on March 17, 2012. Through her marriage, she became part of the House of La Rochefoucauld family.
