In 1978, Rampling married French composer Jean-Michel Jarre. They had a son, David Jarre, who is a musician and magician. She also helped raise her stepdaughter, Émilie Jarre. Their marriage ended in 1997.
Rampling was engaged to Jean-Noël Tassez, a French journalist, from 1998 until his death in 2015. She has lived in Paris since the late 1970s.
