Charlotte Samuels is an amazing American swimmer. She was born on November 28, 1998. Charlotte is known for her incredible long-distance swims.

She is believed to be the youngest person ever to finish the challenging Ederle Swim. This swim is 17.5 miles long! Charlotte completed it when she was just 15 years old in 2013. She swam from Battery Park in New York City all the way to Sandy Hook, New Jersey. Her amazing time was 5 hours, 38 minutes, and 41 seconds. Because of this huge achievement, she was even featured in Sports Illustrated magazine!

Charlotte's Swimming Journey

Charlotte Samuels started swimming competitively when she was very young. She joined the Ridgewood Breakers swim team at age six. This was the beginning of her exciting journey in the water.

In 2013, she moved to a new team, the Bergen Barracudas. She continued to train hard and take on new swimming challenges.

Early Open-Water Swims

Charlotte didn't just swim in pools. She also loved open-water swimming. This means swimming in rivers, lakes, or the ocean.

In 2010, she competed in a big open-water championship. This event took place in the National Harbor on the Potomac River. It was an early sign of her talent for long distances.

Swimming Around Famous Landmarks

Charlotte has swum around some very famous places. In 2011, she took part in the Liberty Island Swim. This was a 1.2-kilometer swim around the Statue of Liberty! Imagine swimming with such an iconic landmark nearby.

Also in 2011, Charlotte won first place in the Brooklyn Bridge swim. She swam across the East River. The swim started from a small beach at Brooklyn Bridge Park. It finished on the Manhattan side of the river.

More Recent Challenges

In 2013, Charlotte continued to push her limits. She competed in the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim. This is a very long and tough race around Manhattan Island. Even though her race was cut short, it was still a huge effort.

That same year, she also competed in the first-ever Cape Circumnavigation Challenge. This swim was 15.1 miles (24.3 kilometers) long. It went all the way around Cape May, New Jersey. Charlotte is truly an inspiring long-distance swimmer!
