The Band's Journey
Before Chase Atlantic: Early Music Days
Before Chase Atlantic, Christian Anthony and Mitchel Cave were in a boy band called What About Tonight. They tried out for The X Factor Australia TV show. They were eliminated early in the competition.
Mitchel Cave's older brother, Clinton Cave, had a popular YouTube channel. On his channel, called Clinton Cave Music, the brothers often shared cover songs. In 2013, the three of them performed together for the first time. They called themselves K.I.D.S. which stood for "Kind Imaginations. Destructive Situations." They released an original song called "Addicted." All content from that channel has since been removed.
Starting Chase Atlantic: Dalliance and Nostalgia
The trio first released music as Chase Atlantic in 2014. This happened when Clinton Cave asked Mitchel and Christian to help with a project for his university. Their first official release as Chase Atlantic was an EP called Dalliance on May 26, 2014. Their early sound was often described as pop rock and Pop punk.
In February 2015, the band released their second EP, Nostalgia. One of their songs, "Friends," became very popular on Tumblr.
Later in 2015, the band got the attention of The Madden Brothers (Benji and Joel Madden). They signed with the Madden Brothers' management company, MDDN, in early 2016.
Growing Success: EPs and First Album
In January 2016, Chase Atlantic released a new song called "Obsessive." In February 2016, they released their third EP, Paradise. They promoted this EP a lot, including a tour in Australia where they played all the songs from it.
In January 2017, Chase Atlantic released their fourth EP, Part One. This came out around the same time they signed with Warner Bros. Records. They followed this with Part Two in March 2017.
In mid-2017, the band announced their first tour in the United States. They opened for the band Sleeping with Sirens. They saw this tour as the real start of their career as a touring band. Chase Atlantic then released Part Three in September 2017.
Their first full-length album, called Chase Atlantic, was released in October 2017. Later that year, they went on their first headlining tour in the United States. They played 16 shows in 11 different states. After that, they toured Australia, opening for the artist Blackbear.
In 2018, the band continued to tour the United States. They opened for singer Lights and played at big festivals. These included Bonaroo, Vans Warped Tour 2018, and Reading/Leeds Festival 2018.
They released two new songs, "Numb to the Feeling" and "Tidal Wave," in mid-2018. That summer, they also left Warner Brothers Records and became an independent band.
New Albums: Phases and Beauty in Death
From January to April 2019, the band worked on their second album in Los Angeles. In April, they announced the "Phases Tour: North America" for the summer of 2019. This tour was to support their second album, Phases. The album was released on June 28, 2019. Before the album, they released three songs: "Her," "Stuckinmybrain," and "Love Is (Not) Easy."
In 2020, they started working on their third studio album. In January 2021, the band announced that their third album, Beauty in Death, would be released on March 5, 2021.
What Kind of Music Do They Make?
Chase Atlantic has a very special music style. The band describes it as "dark alternative pop mixed with rock and R&B." Over the years, their music has changed. It started with more of an alternative/pop sound. Now, it's more of an alternative/R&B sound, which the band feels suits them better.
Their music is a combination of R&B, rock, pop, and alternative styles. They are inspired by many artists from these different music types. Some of their influences include Tame Impala and The Weeknd.
