Where Does Cherry Ridge Run Flow?
Cherry Ridge Run starts on a high, flat area called a plateau. This is in Fairmount Township, Luzerne County. It begins near the dividing line for water that flows into Mehoopany Creek or Bowman Creek.
The stream first flows northwest through a wet, marshy area called a wetland. Here, it gets water from a small, unnamed stream joining it from the right side. Then, Cherry Ridge Run enters Forkston Township in Wyoming County. It turns to flow north-northwest. It goes through another wetland, where two more unnamed streams join it, one from the left and one from the right.
Further downstream, the stream enters another wetland. This is where Wild Fowl Pond is located. After the pond, it flows northwest for a short distance. It then slowly curves west before it meets Mehoopany Creek. Cherry Ridge Run joins Mehoopany Creek about 23 miles (37 kilometers) upstream from where Mehoopany Creek ends.
How High Is Cherry Ridge Run?
The land around where Cherry Ridge Run meets Mehoopany Creek is about 2,037 feet (621 meters) above sea level. Near where the stream begins, its source, the elevation is higher, about 2,151 feet (656 meters) above sea level.
Wild Fowl Pond, which is about 16 acres (6.5 hectares) in size, is located on Cherry Ridge Run. This pond is also very close to Pennsylvania Route 487, a major road.
What Lives in Cherry Ridge Run?

Cherry Ridge Run is considered a very healthy stream. It is not listed as an "impaired waterbody." This means its water quality is good and it can support healthy aquatic life.
