Chester is a small town in Warren County, New York, United States. It is part of the larger Glens Falls metropolitan area. In 2020, about 3,086 people lived here. The town includes two main communities: Chestertown and Pottersville.
Chester is located on the northern edge of Warren County.

Settlers first arrived in the area around 1794. The town of Chester was officially created in 1799. It was formed from a part of the Town of Thurman.

Chester covers a total area of about 87.1 square miles (225.6 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 84.5 square miles (218.7 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 2.6 square miles (6.8 square kilometers), is water.
The town is located within the beautiful Adirondack Park. The northern border of Chester is also the border of Essex County.

The towns of Chester and Horicon share a school district. It is called the North Warren Central School District. This school serves students from both towns.

- Chestertown – This is the main community in the Town of Chester. It is located in the southern part of the town. You can find it where Route 8 and U.S. Route 9 meet. The town hall, North Warren Central School, and most businesses are here.
- Darrowsville – A small community near the southern border of the town.
- Igerna – A small community in the northern part of the town.
- Pottersville – This is the second largest community in the town. It is located at the foot of Schroon Lake. This hamlet has its own ZIP code, 12860.
- Riparius – A small community near the western border of the town.
