The Story of Chloé
Chloé was founded in 1952 by Gaby Aghion. She was born in Egypt but lived in Paris. Gaby Aghion wanted to create luxury clothes that were "ready-to-wear." This meant clothes that were already made in standard sizes. At that time, most luxury fashion was "haute couture." This meant clothes were custom-made for each person and very expensive. Ready-to-wear luxury was a new idea.
Gaby Aghion and her partner Jacques Lenoir ran the company for many years. In 1985, Chloé was bought by another company. It is now part of the Richemont Group.
