Chloe Elizabeth Sutton Mackey (born February 3, 1992) is an American swimmer. She is known for her skills in freestyle and long-distance events. Chloe has represented the United States in two Olympic Games.
She has won five medals in big international swimming competitions. These include three gold medals, one silver, and one bronze. Her medals came from events like the Open Water Championships, Pan Pacific Championships, and Pan American Games. In 2012, she was part of the 2012 United States Olympic team. She swam in the 400-meter freestyle event at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

About Chloe Sutton
Chloe Sutton was born on Vandenberg Air Force Base in California in 1992. Her parents are David and Wendy Sutton. She also has a younger brother named Colin. Her dad was an officer in the United States Air Force. Her brother Colin played football for the University of Colorado.
Chloe started swimming with the Sequoia Farms Stingrays team. This was a summer swim team in Centreville, Virginia. She swam with them from 1998 to 2000.
In 2009, Chloe became a professional swimmer. This meant she could no longer swim for a college team. She finished high school in 2010 through a special program. Later, in 2015, she earned her bachelor's degree in Communications.
On September 15, 2019, Chloe married Jacob Mackey. They now live in Reno, Nevada. In October 2020, they welcomed their first child, a son named Andrew.
Chloe's Swimming Career
Chloe Sutton has won many medals in her swimming career. She has three medals from open water swimming events. She also has two medals from swimming in a pool.
Her first international medal was in 2006. She won gold in the 10-kilometer open water event at the 2006 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships. The next year, she won another gold medal in the same event. This was at the 2007 Pan American Games.
Olympic Appearances
In 2008, Chloe won a bronze medal. This was at the 2008 FINA World Open Water Swimming Championships. She finished third in the women's 5-kilometer open water event. She then qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. At the Olympics, she finished 22nd in the 10-kilometer open water event.
In 2009, Chloe swam in the 2009 World Aquatics Championships. Her best result there was eighth place in the 1,500-meter freestyle.
At the 2010 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, Chloe won two medals. She got a gold medal in the 400-meter freestyle. She also won a silver medal in the 800-meter freestyle. These were her first medals won in a swimming pool.
In 2012, Chloe made history. She became the first American swimmer to qualify for the Olympics in both open water and pool events. She earned her spot on the U.S. Olympic team for the 400-meter freestyle. This was at the 2012 United States Olympic Trials. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, she finished tenth in the 400-meter freestyle. This meant she did not make it to the final race.
On her 23rd birthday, February 3, 2015, Chloe announced she was retiring from swimming.
