History of Sedalia
The Sedalia post office first opened in 1872. This means people have been sending and receiving mail here for over 150 years! The community was named after a city in Missouri, which is also called Sedalia.
Geography and Location
Sedalia is located in the northern part of Douglas County. It sits along U.S. Route 85, a main road. This road goes about 8 miles (13 km) southeast to Castle Rock, which is the main town for Douglas County. If you go north on the same road, you'll reach downtown Denver in about 24 miles (39 km).
The Sedalia CDP covers an area of about 3.531 square kilometers (1.363 square miles). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water.

- Philip F. Roach (1881-1976): He was a high-ranking officer, a Commodore, in the U.S. Coast Guard. He also received the Navy Cross, which is a very brave award.
- Scott E Crawford: He was a Chief Warrant Officer Four in the U.S. Army and is now retired. He received the Bronze Star Medal for his service. He was involved in many important missions, including in El Salvador, during Desert Storm, and in the Balkans. He also worked on special operations assignments.
