Chris Rumph II moved around a lot when he was younger. This was because his dad was a football coach. He moved to Gainesville, Florida before his sophomore year of high school. There, he went to Buchholz High School.

During his senior year, Chris was a standout player. He was named first-team All-State. This means he was one of the best players in the entire state. He also earned the "Big School Player of the Year" award. This award came from The Gainesville Sun newspaper. In that amazing season, he made 105 tackles. After high school, he decided to play college football at Duke University.

College Career at Duke

Chris Rumph II started his college football journey at Duke University. In his first year, he was "redshirted." This means he practiced with the team but did not play in games. This allowed him to train and get stronger without using a year of his college eligibility.

As a redshirt freshman, he showed great promise. He made 25 tackles and had 8 tackles for loss. He also recorded 3 sacks. USA Today named him a freshman All-American. This means he was recognized as one of the best first-year players in the country. In his next season, he continued to excel. He made 47 tackles and had 13.5 tackles for loss. He also had 6.5 sacks. He was named third-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The ACC is a major college sports league.

Like many athletes, Chris has faced some challenges. In November 2023, he was placed on injured reserve. This means he couldn't play due to a fractured foot. He was also placed on injured reserve in August 2024, which ended his season.
