Christiana is a small community in New Castle County, Delaware. It's not an official city or town, but a place where people live and work. You can find it along the Christina River, about 12 miles southwest of Wilmington.
This area is well-known for the Christiana Hospital, a major medical center. It's also home to the Christiana Mall, a popular shopping spot. Christiana is an important connection point for roads, as Delaware Route 1 meets Interstate 95 here. Even though it shares a name with Christiana Hundred, the community itself is actually located in White Clay Creek Hundred.
A Look Back: History of Christiana
Christiana gets its name from the Christina River. The river was named after Christina, Queen of Sweden. She was the queen when the New Sweden colony was founded in 1638.
