Christy Altomare (born June 23, 1986) is an American actress and singer-songwriter. She is known for her amazing performances in many musicals.
Christy played Wendla in the first national tour of the rock musical Spring Awakening. She also played Sue Snell in the off-Broadway show Carrie. Her first time on Broadway was as Sophie in Mamma Mia!. She became very famous for creating the main role in the Broadway show Anastasia. This show ran for a long time, with over 800 performances!

Early Life and Education
Christy Altomare was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She started performing in local theater shows when she was just five years old.
When she was in Pennsbury High School, Christy was part of school choirs and plays. After high school, she went to the University of Cincinnati's Conservatory of Music. She performed in many shows there. In 2004, she won an award from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts for musical theater. She earned her college degree in musical theater in 2008.
Personal Life
Christy Altomare is married to Chris Crook. They got married in September 2022. They have a son named Preston, who was born in 2023.
Christy's Career Journey
Christy Altomare started writing songs when she was twelve years old. She has released several music albums. Her first CDs were Not Yet Over You (2000) and Waiting For You (2007). She also released an EP called After You (2008). She looks up to singers like Jewel and Joni Mitchell for inspiration.
Touring with Spring Awakening
In 2008, Christy joined the first national tour of the Broadway musical Spring Awakening. She played the main role of Wendla. The tour started in San Diego in August 2008.
Christy traveled to 44 different cities and performed over 600 times! She stayed with the show until its last performance in May 2010. People who saw the show really liked her performance. Critics said she was "innocent and adorable" and praised her "piercing, haunting soprano voice."
Broadway Debut in Mamma Mia!
After Spring Awakening, Christy appeared in the Off-Broadway show Carrie in 2012. She played Sue Snell.
On June 4, 2012, Christy made her big Broadway debut! She joined the cast of Mamma Mia! at the Winter Garden Theatre. She played the role of Sophie Sheridan. She performed in Mamma Mia! for a year, leaving the show in June 2013.
Starring in Anastasia
One of Christy's most famous roles was playing the main character, Anya (also known as Anastasia), in the musical Anastasia. This show is based on the popular 1997 animated movie.
The show first opened in Connecticut in 2016. Christy received great reviews for her performance and won the Connecticut Critics Circle Award. She then brought the role to Broadway at the Broadhurst Theatre. The show started previews in March 2017 and officially opened in April 2017.
Christy's performance on Broadway also earned her many positive reviews and awards. She was nominated for a 2017 Drama Desk Award. While performing in Anastasia, Christy also filmed video blogs for Broadway.com called Royal Misfits. These videos gave fans a fun look at what life was like backstage. She stayed with Anastasia until its final Broadway show on March 31, 2019.
Recent Projects
Since Anastasia closed, Christy has performed in the Broadway Princess Party concert. In this show, she sings alongside other famous Broadway actresses who have played princesses.
In 2021, Christy released a solo album of her own original music called Wandering Bird. She also performed in a new musical called Noir in Houston, Texas, in 2022. She also appeared in the world premiere of The Wanderer in 2022.
