The Church of Aldachildo, also known as the Church of Jesus of Nazareth, is a beautiful Catholic church. It is located in the small town of Aldachildo. This town is part of the Puqueldón area on Lemuy Island. Lemuy Island is found in the Chiloé Archipelago, which is in southern Chile.
A Special Place
The Church of Aldachildo is very important. In 1999, it was named a National Monument of Chile. This means it is a special building protected by the country.
Even more amazing, on November 30, 2000, it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is a huge honor! It means the church is considered important for everyone in the world to protect. It is one of 16 churches in Chiloé that have this special title.
Who is the Church for?
The church is dedicated to Jesus of Nazareth. He is also the special saint for the Church of Caguach. People celebrate his feast day on August 30. They also celebrate it on the third Sunday of January each year.
History and Condition
The Church of Aldachildo was finished in the late 1800s. It is an old building that has stood for a long time. The church has not had major repairs or new materials added since it was built.
Today, the church is still in good shape. However, some parts of the outside and the inside walls have started to show a little wear and tear.
