At just 14 years old, he released his very first album. By the time he was 17, he performed for a large audience for the first time. Ciwan Haco is one of the first Kurdish singers to mix traditional Kurdish folk music with Western styles. He blends in sounds from pop, rock, blues, and jazz.

In 2003, Ciwan Haco was allowed to hold a concert in Batman, Turkey. More than 200,000 people came to watch him perform! Ciwan Haco is known for his song lyrics, which are often simple. The main topic in many of his songs is love. His song "Li hêviya te" (Waiting for you) from his 2006 album Off features singing in both Kurdish language and French language.
