Clarks is a small village located in Merrick County, Nebraska, in the United States. In 2020, about 344 people lived there. Clarks is part of the larger Grand Island, Nebraska area, which is a group of towns connected by their economy.

History of Clarks Village

Clarks was officially started in 1866. This happened when the Union Pacific Railroad built its tracks through the area. The village was named after Silas Henry H. Clark. He was an important person who managed the Union Pacific Railroad at that time.

Geography and Location

Clarks is in the northeastern part of Merrick County. It is mostly found on the northwest side of U.S. Route 30, a major highway. This highway goes southwest about 11 miles (18 km) to Central City, which is the main town of the county. It also goes northeast the same distance to Silver Creek.

The village of Clarks covers a total area of about 0.31 square miles (0.81 square kilometers), and all of it is land. The Platte River flows less than 2 miles (3.2 km) southeast of the village.
