Claro was once a small town, also known as a municipality, located in the Ticino area of Switzerland. It was part of the Riviera district.

On April 2, 2017, Claro joined with several other towns. These towns included Camorino, Giubiasco, Gnosca, Gorduno, Gudo, Moleno, Monte Carasso, Pianezzo, Preonzo, Sant'Antonio, and Sementina. They all became part of the larger town of Bellinzona.

Claro covers an area of about 21.22 square kilometers (8.19 sq mi). A large part of this land, about 72%, is covered by forests. About 11.5% of the land is used for farming.

A smaller part, about 5.8%, has buildings and roads. Rivers and lakes make up about 1.3% of the area. The remaining 7% is land that cannot be used for farming or building.

Claro is situated in the Riviera district. It includes the main village of Claro. You can also find several small settlements scattered along the left side of the Riviera valley.
