Club History: The Story of Calor
How the Club Started
The team began in 2001. It was first known as El Calor de San Pedro. Their home was in San Pedro, Coahuila. They played in the Tercera División, which is a lower football league in Mexico. The main goal was to train players from a local league called the Mexican-Canadian League.
Moving Up in the Leagues
In 2012, the team did very well. They finished second in the Third Division. Even though they lost the final game to Real Cuautitlán, their high position allowed them to move up. This meant they were promoted to the Second Division.
In August 2012, Calor started playing in the Liga de Nuevos Talentos. This was the second level of the Mexican Second Division. The team managed to stay in this league without many problems.
New Homes for the Team
In July 2013, the club moved to Gómez Palacio. They had to move because their original town could not meet the league's rules. The team changed its name to Calor de Gómez Palacio. Their new home field was the Unidad Deportiva Francisco Gómez Palacio.
In the Torneo Clausura 2017, Calor had another great season. They reached the final but were beaten by Yalmakán F.C.. They finished as the runner-up.
In 2018, the team moved again. This time, they went to Monclova. This was their third home city in the club's history. The team's name became Club Calor. When they arrived in Monclova, there were plans to build a new football stadium for them.
Challenges and Triumphs
During the 2020–2021 season, the team took a break. They needed to fix their money and sports plans. This was because of problems from COVID-19 in Mexican football. They also wanted to get ready to play in a higher league, the Liga Premier – Serie A.
In summer 2021, the team came back to play. At the end of the Torneo Apertura, Club Calor made it to the championship final. However, they lost to Aguacateros C.D. Uruapan.
In the Apertura 2022, Club Calor won their first official championship! They beat Alebrijes de Oaxaca Premier with a score of 3–2. In May 2023, the club moved up to the Liga Premier – Serie A. They got the special permission needed to play in that league.
Back to Serie B and a New Home
In 2024, the team returned to Serie B. This happened because their stadium in Monclova needed improvements. Since they didn't have a stadium in Monclova, the team tried to settle in León, Guanajuato. They had a reserve team there before. There was a plan for a name change, but the league did not allow it. This made some fans unhappy. Finally, for the 2024–25 season, the team found a new home in San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco.
