Clydesdale North is one of the 20 local government areas, called electoral wards, in South Lanarkshire Council. It was created in 2007. This area chooses three local councillors to represent its people. These councillors are chosen using a special voting method called the single transferable vote system. About 14,726 people live in Clydesdale North.
Since it was created, different political parties have won seats here. The Scottish National Party (SNP), Labour, and the Conservatives have each held one of the three seats. There was one time after the 2012 election when an independent councillor, Ed Archer, won a seat. An independent councillor is someone who does not belong to a political party.
