Condé-en-Normandie is a lovely town in northwestern France. It's located in the Calvados area. This town was created on January 1, 2016. It brought together six smaller towns: Condé-sur-Noireau (which is now the main part), La Chapelle-Engerbold, Lénault, Proussy, Saint-Germain-du-Crioult, and Saint-Pierre-la-Vieille.

Where is Condé-en-Normandie?
Condé-en-Normandie is part of a beautiful region called Suisse Normande. This area is known for its hills and valleys, which look a bit like Switzerland!
The town is made up of several smaller villages and hamlets. Some of these include Lénault, Saint-Pierre-la-Vieille, La Chapelle-Engerbold, Proussy, and Condé-sur-Noireau.
Rivers and Nature
Nature is very important here. Condé-en-Normandie shares a special conservation area called the Bassin de la Druance. This huge area helps protect plants and animals. It covers 5,729 hectares!
Three rivers flow through the town: the Tortillon, the la Druance, and the Noireau. There are also five smaller streams. These include La Blare, The Cresme, and The Vaux. The town is surrounded by many other communes, like Pontécoulant and Valdallière.

- Musée Charles Léandre is a museum in Condé-sur-Noireau. It celebrates the artist Charles Lucien Léandre and other artists from the Normandy region.
- Musée de l'Imprimerie Typographique is another museum in Condé-sur-Noireau. It teaches visitors all about typographic printing.
Historic Buildings
The town has two buildings recognized as National Heritage Sites. This means they are very old and important!
- Galland-Duclos House is a private house from the 1700s. It became a protected monument in 1996.
- House on Grand Rue was listed as a monument in 1929. Sadly, it was destroyed during World War II.
Famous Faces from Condé-en-Normandie
Many notable people have connections to Condé-en-Normandie:
- Jules Dumont d'Urville (1790–1842) was born here. He was a French explorer and naval officer. He explored the Pacific Ocean, Australia, New Zealand, and Antarctica.
- Henri Duret (1849–1921) was also born in the area. He was a French neurologist. His work helped us understand the brain better, especially for early brain surgery.
- Maximilien Vox (1894–1974) was born here too. He was a French writer, cartoonist, and expert on typography.
- Michèle Fabien (1945–1999) was a Belgian writer. She is buried in the Saint-Pierre-la-Vieille cemetery.
