The Condé Nast Building, officially called Four Times Square, is a modern skyscraper in New York City. It stands tall in the famous Times Square area of Midtown Manhattan. This impressive building was completed in January 2000.

It reaches 48 stories high, about 809 feet (247 meters). This makes it one of the tallest buildings in New York City and the United States. Big companies like the magazine publisher Condé Nast Publications have offices here. You can also find stores like ESPN Zone and Duane Reade inside.

Who Owns and Designed This Skyscraper?

Four Times Square is owned by The Durst Organization. The architects who designed this building were Fox & Fowle. The building has a huge amount of space inside, about 1.6 million square feet (150,000 square meters).

In 1995, Four Times Square was the first large office building built in New York City in almost ten years. It quickly became fully rented out after it was finished.

What is the NASDAQ MarketSite?

The NASDAQ's MarketSite is located at the corner of the Condé Nast Building. It is a seven-story tower with a cool electronic display. This display shows stock market prices, financial news, and advertisements.

The ground floor of the MarketSite has a television studio. From this studio, you can see out onto Times Square.

How Tall is the Building with its Antenna?

Between 2002 and 2003, a new antenna was added to the building. This antenna is 300 feet (91 meters) tall. It helps television and radio stations broadcast their signals. These stations needed a new place to broadcast from after the World Trade Center was destroyed.

With this antenna, the building reaches 1,143 feet (348 meters) high. This makes it the second tallest structure in New York City. Only the Empire State Building is taller.

Is This a Green Building?

Four Times Square is a great example of green design in skyscrapers. It uses special features to be friendly to the environment. For example, it has special chillers that use gas. It also has a smart outer wall that insulates the building.

These features mean the building doesn't need much heating or cooling for most of the year. The office furniture inside is made from materials that are good for the environment. The building also has a system that brings in 50% more fresh air than required. There are even recycling chutes throughout the building.

Because it was one of the first large buildings to use these green features, it won awards. It received awards from the American Institute of Architects.
