Early Life and Beginnings
Conor Paul Maynard was born in Torquay, England. His father, Gary, was a builder, and his mother, Helen, was an office worker. He has a younger brother, Jack, and a younger sister, Anna, who are both popular YouTubers. Anna has even appeared in some of Conor's YouTube cover songs.
Conor went to Cardinal Newman Catholic School in Hove. He joined YouTube on May 19, 2006. In December 2008, he uploaded his first singing video, a cover of "Breathe" by Lee Carr. Before his music career took off, he also acted in the TV show Dream Team in 2006.
Music Career
2010–2012: Rise to Fame
In late 2010, Maynard signed with the record label Parlophone. He released the music video for his first single, "Can't Say No," on March 1, 2012. The video was a huge success, getting over 14 million views in just a few months.
Music critics liked the song. Some compared him to Justin Bieber because both singers were young and got their start on YouTube. However, Maynard said, "I'm not like Justin Bieber," explaining that their styles were different.
"Can't Say No" was released in the United Kingdom on April 15, 2012. It reached number two on the UK Singles Chart. The song was also a hit in Ireland, where it reached number thirteen. On June 9, 2012, Maynard performed the song at the Capital Summertime Ball for a crowd of 80,000 people.
His second single, "Vegas Girl", came out in July 2012 and reached number 4 in the UK. His first album, Contrast, was released on July 30, 2012. It went straight to number 1 on the UK Album Chart. His third single from the album, "Turn Around", featured the American singer Ne-Yo and reached number 8 on the UK charts.
2013–2017: New Music and a Covers Album

In 2013, Maynard released a book called Take Off, which told the story of his journey to becoming a famous singer. He also released a new single called "R U Crazy", which was produced by the artist Labrinth.
In March 2014, Maynard was part of a group of pop stars who recorded England's official song for the 2014 World Cup. He sang with artists like Melanie C, Emma Bunton, and Pixie Lott. The song was a cover of "Greatest Day" by the band Take That.
Over the next few years, Maynard released more singles, including "Talking About" and "Royalty". He also collaborated with other artists. In 2016, he was featured on the song "I'm Famous" by YouTuber Marcus Butler.
Because his cover songs on YouTube were so popular, Maynard decided to release an album of them. The album, called Covers, came out on August 5, 2016. It included his versions of songs like "Pillowtalk" and "Hello," plus one original song he wrote.
2018–Present: Broadway and More Albums
In November 2018, Maynard showed off his acting skills on Broadway. He starred as the main character, Charlie Price, in the musical Kinky Boots. He performed in the show until January 2019.
After his time on Broadway, Maynard continued to release new music. On November 12, 2021, he released the single "What I Put You Through." He said it was the most personal song he had ever written.
In April 2023, Maynard announced his third studio album, +11 Hours. This was his first album of all-new, original songs in over ten years. The album was released on June 9, 2023.
