What Does the Stormy Cone Look Like?
The shell of an adult Conus nimbosus can be between 33 millimeters (about 1.3 inches) and 65 millimeters (about 2.5 inches) long. The shell is quite smooth. Its color is usually a rosy or purplish-white.
It often has two light brown bands. These bands are covered with many small, dark brown dots. The main part of the shell has many grooves that go around it. The top part of the shell, called the spire, is rather flat. Its very tip, the apex, is a grayish-white color.
Where Does the Stormy Cone Live?
This snail lives in the Indian Ocean. You can find it near countries like Mozambique, Madagascar, the Seychelles, India, and Sri Lanka. It also lives in the Pacific Ocean. Here, it is found near Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, and Samoa.
