Discover the Noble Cone Snail's Shell
The shell of an adult noble cone snail can be between 29 mm and 71 mm long. That's about the size of a small to medium-sized finger.
What Does the Shell Look Like?
The top part of the shell, called the spire, is quite flat. It has grooves and fine lines. The edges of the shell's "shoulder" are sharp.
Colors and Patterns of the Shell
The shell's color is usually yellowish-brown or chestnut brown. It has many small chestnut spots arranged in lines. The whole shell is also covered with large, white, triangle-shaped spots. These spots are placed in a scattered, irregular way.
Where Do Noble Cone Snails Live?
These marine snails live in the Indo-Pacific Ocean. They are found in waters that are not too deep, but also not right at the surface. This area is called the sublittoral zone.
Specific Locations of Noble Cone Snails
You can find them in places like Sri Lanka and the Andaman Islands. They also live near Nicobar Islands, along the coasts of Sumatra and Java, and all the way to Timor. They can even be found near the Marquesas Islands.
