How the Show Works
In Cooking with the Stars, eight famous people team up with professional chefs. Each chef becomes their mentor, teaching them cooking skills. The celebrities then compete in cooking battles. They make all sorts of different dishes.
While cooking, they can hit a special "golden frying pan" gong. This allows their mentor chef to step in and help them for two minutes. The mentor chefs also act as judges. They decide who wins each cooking challenge. Winners move on to the next round. The losers have to compete in a "cook-off."
In the cook-off, the two celebrities who lost must cook the same dish. They get no help from their mentors this time. The cook-off is judged by a blind taste test. This means the chefs don't know which celebrity cooked which dish. This makes the judging fair, as they might even send their own celebrity home!
Making the Show
In April 2021, ITV announced they would make Cooking with the Stars. It was planned as a six-part cooking competition. The show was created by South Shore Productions. It also received funding from Marks & Spencer.
ITV said the show would feature "eight celebrities, each paired with an accomplished chef." These chefs would "mentor, teach and take them from passionate amateur to restaurant level chefs." The series is filmed at Pinewood Studios.
