Corey Moore (born January 28, 1993) is an American former professional football player. He played as a safety, which is a defensive position, for teams like the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts in the National Football League (NFL). Before playing professionally, he was a talented athlete in high school, playing football, basketball, and track. He earned All-American honors for his football skills. Corey then played college football at the University of Georgia for four years. After college, he joined the Houston Texans in 2015. He played in many games for the Texans and Colts, and even in playoff games. Later, he played for the Tampa Bay Vipers in the XFL.

Corey Moore's Early Life and High School Football
Corey Moore was born on January 28, 1993, in Griffin, Georgia. He went to Griffin High School, where he was a star safety on the football team. In 2010, he was recognized as one of the top high school players in the country. He was named to the SuperPrep All-America team.
Corey was chosen to play in two special all-star football games: the 2010 Georgia Athletic Coaches Association North-South All-Star Football Classic and the 2011 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. During his senior year, he also played as a backup quarterback. Besides football, Corey was also a talented athlete in basketball and track at Griffin High School. In 2010, he was named the best defensive back at a major scouting event in Atlanta.
Many scouting services rated Corey as a top player. He was considered a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, Scout.com, ESPN.com, and 247Sports.com. These services also ranked him as one of the best safeties in the entire country for his age group.
Corey Moore's College Football Career at Georgia
The University of Georgia was the first school to offer Corey a scholarship. He decided to commit to Georgia in January 2010, during his junior year of high school. Other big schools like Auburn, Clemson, and Tennessee also offered him scholarships.
Corey played safety for the Georgia Bulldogs from 2011 to 2014. He earned a special football scholarship each year. During his college career, he played in 50 games. He made 76 tackles, which means he stopped the opposing team's players. He also had one sack, which is when he tackled the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. He intercepted the ball twice and broke up three passes.
In his first year, 2011, he played in 12 games and made one tackle. He even blocked a punt in one game. In 2012, his second year, he played in 14 games and started one. He made 14 tackles and was named a team captain for one game. He also won an award for being one of the team's Most Improved Players.
In 2013, Corey played in 12 games and started seven. He had 35 tackles, one sack, and one interception. In his senior year, 2014, he played in 12 games and started six. He made 26 tackles and had another interception. Corey studied communication studies while at Georgia.

Before the NFL Draft
Before the 2015 NFL draft, experts evaluated Corey Moore. NFLDraftScout.com rated him as the 23rd best strong safety available. One expert, Lance Zierlein, thought Corey might not be drafted but would be a player teams would want to sign afterward. He noted that Corey was a good "box safety," meaning he was strong close to the line of scrimmage, but might not have the speed for all NFL defensive roles.

Playing for the Houston Texans
Corey Moore was not chosen in the 2015 NFL draft, but he signed with the Houston Texans on May 11, 2015. He was first on the Texans' practice squad, which is a group of players who practice with the team but aren't on the main roster. Later, he was moved to the active roster. He played his first NFL game on January 3, 2016, making a tackle on special teams. He also played in a playoff game that season.
In 2016, Corey got his first start for the Texans because another player was injured. He started several games at strong safety and even at free safety. He played in all 16 games that season, starting 8 of them. He made 32 tackles and defended 3 passes. Joining the Ottawa Redblacks
Corey then signed with the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League (CFL) on March 2, 2020. However, the 2020 CFL season was later cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Corey was placed on the retired list by the Redblacks in January 2021.
