Cozad is a city in Dawson County, Nebraska, USA. It's located in the middle of Nebraska, on the Great Plains. In 2020, about 3,988 people lived there.
The city is found along the Union Pacific Railroad and U.S. Route 30. It is just north of the Platte River. A special line called the 100th meridian passes near Cozad. This line shows where the drier plains begin. You can see a sign marking it on U.S. 30. In the 1860s, this meridian was a stop for the Pony Express.

History of Cozad
Cozad was started in 1873 by a man named John J. Cozad. He was from Ohio and was the father of a famous painter, Robert Henri. John Cozad bought 40,000 acres of land from the Union Pacific Railroad. He then planned out the future town.
He built houses on some of the land to encourage people to move there. He sold most of the land to new residents. They decided to name the town after him. John Cozad also founded a small village in Ohio called Cozaddale, Ohio.
Museums and Historic Places
Cozad has at least two museums you can visit. These are the 100th Meridian Museum and the Robert Henri Museum.
The Cozad Downtown Historic District is an important area in the city. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2018. Two other buildings, the Hendee Hotel and Allen's Opera House, are also listed. The Hendee Hotel is now the main building of the Robert Henri Museum.
