Gameplay Basics
Crash Bandicoot has 33 exciting levels for you to explore. Each level has its own special look and feel. No two levels are exactly alike in their theme. For example, in some levels, Crash has to run away from a giant rolling boulder. This is a fun nod to the Indiana Jones movies! In other levels, bad guys might throw barrels of green goo at Crash. You need to dodge them to keep going!
Bonus Levels and Saving Your Game
As you play, you can find hidden bonus levels. To unlock these, you need to collect special icons. Look for three icons of Nitrus Brio, Dr. Cortex, or Tawna. These icons are always found inside boxes. Breaking boxes is important because you can only save your game after finishing a Tawna or Cortex bonus round. You can also save your progress by finding a special gem!
Collecting Gems
Gems are super important in Crash Bandicoot. To get a gem, you must break every single box in a level. And you have to do it without losing a life! There are different colored gems in the game. Some levels might hide a few boxes until you've found a specific colored gem from another level. For example, to find all the boxes in the "Jungle Rollers" level, you first need to get the green gem from the "Lost City" level.
Meet the Bosses
In Crash Bandicoot, you'll face off against several big boss characters. These are tough enemies you need to defeat to move forward in the game. Here are the bosses you'll meet, in the order you fight them:
- Papu Papu
- Ripper Roo
- Koala Kong
- Pinstripe Potoroo
- Dr. Nitrus Brio
- Dr. Neo Cortex
