Cristóvão Borges dos Santos (born on June 9, 1959) is a Brazilian football coach and former player. He used to play as a midfielder, which is a player who helps both in defense and attack. Cristóvão was born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. He is known for his long career in Brazilian football, both on the field and on the sidelines.

Playing Career Highlights
Cristóvão started his football journey in 1977 with Bahia. He played for many famous Brazilian clubs during his career. Some of these teams include Fluminense, Atlético Paranaense, Corinthians, and Grêmio. He won several important titles with these clubs.
He stopped playing professionally in 1994. During his playing days, Cristóvão also represented the Brazilian national team. In 1989, he played seven games for Brazil and scored three goals. He was part of the team that won the 1989 Copa América, a major football tournament in South America.
Coaching Career Journey
After retiring as a player, Cristóvão began his coaching career in 1998. He first worked as an assistant coach for Bangu. For almost ten years, he worked alongside coach Ricardo Gomes at various clubs.
In 2011, Cristóvão became an assistant coach at Vasco da Gama. Later that year, he took over as the main coach when Ricardo Gomes had to step down. Cristóvão led Vasco to the semifinals of the Copa Sudamericana and helped them finish second in the Brazilian League that year.
Over the years, Cristóvão managed several other well-known teams. These included Bahia, Fluminense, Flamengo, and Corinthians. He also had a second coaching period at Vasco da Gama in 2017. More recently, he coached Atlético Goianiense in 2020 and Figueirense in 2023.
