Cristiano da Silva (born January 12, 1987), often called just Cristiano, is a Brazilian football player. He plays as an attacking midfielder or a forward. Currently, he plays for Portuguesa.

Cristiano's Football Journey

Starting Out in Brazil

Cristiano began his football career in the youth team of Coritiba. He made his first professional appearance with Toledo in 2006. After that, he played for a few other Brazilian clubs. These included Adap Galo, Campo Mourão, and Marcílio Dias. In 2009, he joined Metropolitano.

Loan Spells and Growth

In 2009, Cristiano had a short loan period at Rio Claro. Later that year, he joined Chapecoense on another temporary deal. In April 2010, he moved to Juventude on loan. He became a very important player for Ju in 2011. He scored six goals in just nine matches during the 2011 Série D season.

Playing in Europe: Red Bull Salzburg

In October 2011, Cristiano traveled to Austria to try out for Red Bull Salzburg. He officially signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the club in December 2011. He helped the team win the Bundesliga and the Austrian Cup in the 2011–12 season. However, in September 2012, he was sent to their development team, FC Liefering.

Loan to Tochigi SC

On December 11, 2012, Cristiano was loaned to Tochigi SC in Japan for the 2013 season. He was a top scorer for the club, netting 16 goals in the 2013 J.League Division 2.

Ventforet Kofu and Kashiwa Reysol

In January 2014, Cristiano joined Ventforet Kofu permanently. He was a regular player there. In January 2015, he moved to Kashiwa Reysol on loan. He had a fantastic year, scoring 21 goals, which was his best record at the time.

Return to Kashiwa Reysol

After his loan, Cristiano returned to Ventforet. But in June 2016, Kashiwa Reysol signed him permanently. He stayed with Kashiwa for seven years, scoring 93 goals in total. His best performance was in 2019 when he scored 19 goals. This helped the club get promoted back to the first division.

Later Career in Japan

In December 2021, Cristiano moved to V-Varen Nagasaki. He played regularly in his first year. However, he played less in his second year with the team.

Back to Ventforet Kofu (Loan)

On August 5, 2023, Cristiano went back to Ventforet Kofu on loan until the end of the year. He scored his first goal for them against Mito HollyHock in September. After this loan, he left both Ventforet and V-Varen.

Coming Back to Brazil

In March 2024, Cristiano returned to Brazil after more than 12 years. He signed with Paraná. He helped Paraná win the Campeonato Paranaense Série Prata by playing in 11 matches and scoring four goals.

Joining Portuguesa

On August 9, 2024, Cristiano joined Portuguesa for the Copa Paulista. He continued to play for them in the 2025 Campeonato Paulista and was their top scorer in that competition. He signed a new contract with Portuguesa in March 2025.
