How Water Flows In and Out
Water flows into Cross Lake from several places. The main source is a channel from Lake Temagami. This channel is like a natural river that connects the two lakes. Cross Lake is at the same height as Lake Temagami.
Other smaller streams also bring water into Cross Lake. These include streams from Willis Lake to the north and McAdam Lake to the east. The Temagami River also flows into the lake from the southwest.
The main way water leaves Cross Lake is through the Temagami River. It flows south into another lake called Surveyor Lake. Both Cross Lake and Surveyor Lake are at the same elevation. Further downstream, a structure called the Cross Lake Dam helps control the water flow from Surveyor Lake into the rest of the Temagami River.
