The Story of Crusha
How Crusha Started
Crusha started selling its milkshake mix in 1955. At first, it came in glass bottles. Later, they switched to plastic bottles. Crusha has always offered many different flavours. The first four flavours were chocolate, banana, strawberry, and raspberry. Other early flavours included Lemon, Lime, and pineapple.
Crusha's Big Relaunch (2003-2006)
In 2003, Crusha became very well known. This was thanks to some fun animated TV adverts. A web animator named Joel Veitch created these ads. They showed cartoon cats playing musical instruments. A ginger cat named Errol was the singer! The adverts also showed cows getting "crushed" by giant Crusha bottles.
During this time, new flavours were added. These included Vanilla and Black Cherry. Some older favourites like Lime and Pineapple also returned. In 2005, Pineapple and Black Cherry were replaced. New flavours like white chocolate and a tropical fruit one called "Wild'n'Fruity" appeared. Later in 2005, Crusha also introduced "No Added Sugar" versions. These first came out in Strawberry and Banana flavours.
A Fresh Look for Crusha (2007-2011)
In early 2007, Crusha got a new look and a new logo. They also changed their recipes to be "Nothing Artificial." This meant the flavours were made without artificial colours or flavours. The main flavours at this time were Raspberry, Strawberry, Banana, Chocolate, and White Chocolate.
However, many people missed the old Strawberry taste. So, Crusha listened to their customers. They brought back the original Strawberry recipe! The White Chocolate flavour was later stopped.
In 2008, a "No Added Sugar" Raspberry flavour was launched. Joel Veitch made more adverts. This time, the cats were in a gym. Cows were on treadmills, getting crushed by bottles. Even Errol the cat got crushed!
In 2009, fans asked for Lime Crusha to return. It did in March 2010! It quickly became one of the most popular flavours. A new advert showed the Crusha cats disco dancing. Errol got crushed by a bottle again! Lime Crusha was seen as a special "cult drink" by many fans.
Crusha Goes Beyond Milkshakes (2011-2014)
In 2011, Crusha started making other sweet treats. They launched puddings and jelly! The milkshake mix was even renamed "Crusha Mixa." A special "limited edition" Vanilla Ice Cream flavour also came out. Banana Crusha was no longer sold in regular shops. But you could still buy it in large amounts from special wholesale stores.
In 2012, a new limited-edition flavour was released. It was Cherry and Vanilla. This replaced the Vanilla Ice Cream flavour. Another advert came out that year. It showed Errol and his cats breakdancing. Cows on skateboards got crushed by a bottle at the end. In 2013, Apple & Blackcurrant replaced the Cherry and Vanilla flavour.
Crusha Time (2014-Present)
In 2014, Crusha changed its brand completely. They made Errol look younger. The adverts now showed kittens doing cool stunts to make Crusha. The main flavours became Raspberry, Strawberry, and Chocolate. A new "No Added Sugar" Chocolate flavour was also added.
In 2016, Vanilla returned as a "no added sugar" flavour. In 2019, Crusha introduced a limited-edition "no added sugar" Cookies & Cream flavour. In 2020, the Lime flavour came back as a limited edition. For the first time, it was available in a "No Added Sugar" version.
