Jashan Pahlajrai Vaswani (born August 2, 1918 – died July 12, 2018) was an important spiritual leader from India. Many people knew him as Dada Vaswani. He strongly supported vegetarianism and animal rights. He was the spiritual head of the Sadhu Vaswani Mission. This mission is a non-profit group started by his teacher, Sadhu Vaswani. Its main office is in Pune, India, but it has centers all over the world. Dada Vaswani wrote about 150 self-help books in both Sindhi and English.

Early Life and Family
Jashan Pahlajrai Vaswani was born in Hyderabad, Sindh. His parents were Krishnadevi and Pahlajrai Vaswani. He was one of seven children in his family. He had three sisters and four brothers.
His father, Pahlajrai, worked at the Hyderabad Training College for Teachers. He later became the supervisor for all primary schools in Karachi. His mother, Krishnadevi, was one of the first women in those days to get some English education.
School Days
Dada Vaswani started school when he was three years old. He was a very bright student. He skipped two grades and finished his primary education in three years instead of five. He completed primary school at the T. C. Primary School when he was seven.
After that, a special teacher helped him learn English. He then moved to an English-speaking school. He later joined the Rosary School, where he skipped three grades. This allowed him to start High School much earlier than usual.
Next, he went to St. Patrick's School. He studied there for two years before his father passed away. His family faced money problems after this. So, he had to move to N. J. High School, which was a government school.
Speaking Around the World
Dada Vaswani spoke at many important places around the globe. He shared his messages of peace and spirituality.

- He also spoke at the Global Forum of Spiritual Leaders in Oxford.
- He attended the World Parliament of Religions in Chicago.
- He was part of the Millennium World Peace Summit of Religious and Spiritual Leaders at the United Nations in New York.
- He spoke at the Parliament of World Religions in Cape Town, South Africa, in December 1999.
- He also spoke at the Millennium World Peace Summit (MWPS) in Bangkok. This was for the launch of the World Council of Religious Leaders on June 12, 2002.
The Moment of Calm
Dada Vaswani started a worldwide peace project called "The Moment of Calm." As part of this, people all over the world observe two minutes of silence. This happens every year on August 2nd, which is his birthday. During this time, people choose to forgive everyone. Important spiritual leaders, like the Dalai Lama, have helped spread this idea.
Later Life and Passing
Dada Vaswani's health began to get weaker in May 2010. He was 91 years old at the time. He fell and broke his hip while playing ping-pong with children in Panama. He never fully recovered from this injury. For the rest of his life, he mostly used a wheelchair.
After spending several days in a hospital in Pune for health issues, Dada Vaswani returned to his mission. He passed away on July 12, 2018. He died just three weeks before his 100th birthday.
